Working with Great Ormond Street to improve services

Following on from the Ombudsman’s report, published last year, into the tragic death of Arvind Jain, we have been working closely with the Jain family and Great Ormond Street Hospital as they bring in measures to improve the service they provide to people with a neuromuscular condition.

We went with the Jain family to meet staff at Great Ormond Street earlier this week. The meeting was very positive, and we were encouraged to hear about the improvements that have already been made, as well as a number of developments expected over the coming months.

The hospital have recently introduced a new care pathway named after Arvind Jain, outlining the pathway that other families will now follow to ensure they get the care they need. Recruitment is also underway for an additional specialist nurse post and the psychology team are currently working to improve the psychological support available to patients with neuromuscular conditions.

This is just a snapshot of the work that is being undertaken and we look forward to working closely with Great Ormond Street Hospital over the coming months.
